Okay so after lots of delays, sidelining, and things getting in the way. Welcome to the new look books.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-y5NCgdqnpwg/UtvHChCI5iI/AAAAAAAACts/MNdxw9LO0-Q/s1600/Large.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-y5NCgdqnpwg/UtvHChCI5iI/AAAAAAAACts/MNdxw9LO0-Q/s1600/Large.jpg" height="640" width="494" /></a></div>
<br />
Me and Dan, have worked on this on and off for about 6 months, but rest assured that the next few books will be much quicker due to the fact we have templates etc.<br />
<br />
The Main Rule Book will also get an overhaul to match the graphical style and be inline more with BF's own material so people feel instantly familiar with it.<br />
<br />
Click on the right hand side picture to get the PDF, or <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3E-DVIcsccBNlFVT2JVb0xYR2M/edit?usp=sharing">CLICK HERE</a><br />
<br />
If you spot any errors let me know and I will get on top of it.<br />
<br />
The next books will be:-<br />
<br />
Soviet Union<br />
The Rule Book<br />
UK, Germany & Canada<br />
Eastern European WARPAC<br />
Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, France<br />
Independents<br />
<br />
Please enjoy this material, it has been a long time desire of mine to release something of this quality and now I've got this far, I just want to produce more and more.<br />

<br />
So as regular readers know I have a friendship with Fjodin and his 3D CAD abilities, as well his modelling and painting skills.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://15mmworld.blogspot.co.uk/">http://15mmworld.blogspot.co.uk/</a><br />
<br />
Well, I know he is working on Stuff with Geoff and Chas over at QRF, and alot of people have bemoaned the lack of decent S-Tank.<br />
<br />
The S-Tank is pretty Iconic for any Cold War Armour Fan.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gpBGf-1HAu8/UtUaAxgyd2I/AAAAAAAACtE/XrzDsK1evuM/s1600/S-tankl.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="388" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gpBGf-1HAu8/UtUaAxgyd2I/AAAAAAAACtE/XrzDsK1evuM/s640/S-tankl.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Well here is one hot off the drawing board..<br />
<br />
A 15mm Scale S-tank....<br />

<br />
<br />
So hopefully if QRF can get this into Production - Swedish Players will have lovely new Str-103 S-tanks to play with...<br />
<br />
Oh and Bv206's are coming and "Armies Army" are working on Swedish Infantry! Here is some of Armies Army early stuff....This is Soviet VDV and is about 17mm so slightly larger but hell when they look this good I can live with it.<br />

I know I haven't been around much, and I've not been posting alot lately, this largely because (as some of my longer time subscribers know) i've been having my new house built. Well it's watertight now, and is flying along and we should be in in February.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This has mean't I have spent much of Dec packing and arranging things, putting hobby equipment away into boxes and generally between this, some World War II Painting, gaming on my new PC, work and a hectic Christmas social calender I have neglected you guys! For this I apologise, my new years resolution is to give you more attention, and hit the streets to shift some Christmas Timber.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
What's next in 2014? </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
1. New updated graphical books. </div>
<div>
2. Return of my caption competition (now have the prizes and will restart this again!).</div>
<div>
3. More models!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So without further ado....Some Centurions..</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
FATE of a NATION</h3>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So I bought these to kill two birds with one stone....11 of them for my Jordanian Forces, in Fate of a Nation (Battlefronts recent rules in Wargames Illustrated). However I though I could give other players insight into the Models because they can obviously be used with Swedish and Danish Forces too!</div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I haven't finished these they do need some Greenstuff to clean them up, so it is early days but for the price point of £5.50 they are decent. I'm pretty sure if you asked for a Multipack of 10 discount they would do it, or you can use my blog Promo Code and order over £100's worth. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I used BF Crew figures, and the hatches are spare M113 top hatches. I will be adding Camo nets, crates and other little details to make them less generic. However for £60 pounds rather than BF £115 I think they will do. Here is a comparison with a Battlefront WWII Cromwell just for reference:-</div>

It seems just lately life is full of pleasant surprises, this last week was no exception.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I have recently ordered some items from Irishserb Miniatures, and after months of me pestering him, I think Brian got fed up of me asking over and over and caved in! (I'm very glad I did however!)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="https://sites.google.com/site/irishserbsminiatures/">IRISH SERB MINIATURES</a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So I ordered some models which looked pretty good on his website....Well those items arrived and to say I was blown away is an understatement. Brian doesn't do this full time, he has a job and other commitments so this if more of a "one man - as and when" type approach, however he is putting major producers to shame. A Picture paints a thousand words...</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
AAV7 </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-X7Xt0NfhY5M/UoeRKuxEzeI/AAAAAAAAB7Y/8VH3ImCeKwg/s1600/20131116_151226.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-X7Xt0NfhY5M/UoeRKuxEzeI/AAAAAAAAB7Y/8VH3ImCeKwg/s640/20131116_151226.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mZc8yzqeukA/UoeRaJm_ebI/AAAAAAAAB74/C6a3pnhj3wA/s1600/20131116_151308.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mZc8yzqeukA/UoeRaJm_ebI/AAAAAAAAB74/C6a3pnhj3wA/s640/20131116_151308.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So I picked up 3 of these, 2 for a Platoon of USMC and the third I will convert into a Command Track. The model is impressive, it's massive just like it's real world equivalent and I've put the recent Zvezda Bradley next to this..</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eu5AirfZK6c/UoeSFCFEazI/AAAAAAAAB8M/REOaW1yFb4E/s1600/20131116_152639.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eu5AirfZK6c/UoeSFCFEazI/AAAAAAAAB8M/REOaW1yFb4E/s640/20131116_152639.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I really love this model, it is rarely seen in 15mm but it's an Iconic USMC Vehicle so is a really good addition for adding flavour. The other 6 models are much more ubiquitous but still of superb quality...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The All American HMMWV!</div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iuN6HFyey_I/UoeTGvUChWI/AAAAAAAAB8w/2JUJX1KatkE/s1600/20131116_151202.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iuN6HFyey_I/UoeTGvUChWI/AAAAAAAAB8w/2JUJX1KatkE/s640/20131116_151202.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LlM1Fp3zgCw/UoeTL2-lADI/AAAAAAAAB9E/wvH1tF3lqXk/s1600/20131116_151219.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LlM1Fp3zgCw/UoeTL2-lADI/AAAAAAAAB9E/wvH1tF3lqXk/s640/20131116_151219.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You might have noticed, I used BF Weapons from the M113 pack and yes this is a more modern HMMWV rather than a late 1980's one but it makes a very good proxy. I can also use this in other games and with this in mind, I was pleased that Bryan included a fair few spares for turrets and weapons. So my intention is to Magnetise my HUMMERS so I can have 0.50cals, M60's, TOW's. Mk19's etc. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is great value for money, as if my gaming group want to do dufferent types of 15mm scenarios I can mix and match my models a bit. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is a final comparison between the IRISH SERB Stuff and the ZVEZDA recent releases.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rIICzxumRk0/UoeUOjkZYOI/AAAAAAAAB9Q/2Snnxgs98CY/s1600/20131116_152530(0).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rIICzxumRk0/UoeUOjkZYOI/AAAAAAAAB9Q/2Snnxgs98CY/s640/20131116_152530(0).jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I will be picking up some LAV-25's both the TOW and the Chaingun variant, and then some M60A3's and my USMC should be complete!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

One of the most wonderful things about running a blog like this, is the amount of e-mails I get, some are requests, some are suggestions, some ask advice, some give me example pictures of models or battles.<br />
<br />
By far my most enjoyable e-mails are those from others who share my painting addiction (I genuinely enjoy painting - I would even go so far as I would be content just to collect and paint, wargaming is the cherry on the top, but I could live without it!). There are many who share my fascination / passion / curiosity of the Period of the Mid to Late 80's when the Cold War came it's dramatic and somewhat unexpected conclusion<br />
<br />
One such E-mail came from Ralph, and an interesting series of E-mails, discussions on Brass Barrels and other things came up. I think pictures are much better but here is Ralph's incredible Collection as you can see he has diverse and very interesting tastes. But his Cold War forces are very nice indeed, Enjoy.<br />

I am into many different war games 1/72 scale WWII air combat, 1/600 scale ACW naval, 1/600 scale WWII MTB & Submarine convoy actions, 28mm WWII skirmish level, 15mm Arab & Israeli wars and 15mm Cold war & Modern (21st). "Growing up in the 70’s & 80’s and after reading books like August 1985: World War III and Team Yankee I developed an interest in the Cold war. I first started with 20mm but it was just a little too large for playing a company level and I didn’t like Micro armor (to small) so I switch to 15mm and after years of collecting I have a large collection of AFVs, APCs, Helicopters and infantry so now I can play 70’s,80’s and the 90’s at company level for my Western Allies and Battalion level for my Soviets. So alot has been happening and I've abandoned the blog for nearly a month (shameful). I also have to confess to being sidetracked a little by the Flames of War "Fate of a Nation" Booklet which was released in Wargames Illustrated.<br />
<br />
So what am I doing now? Well I've been contacting alot of producers to discuss models and up coming models.<br />
<br />
<h4 style="text-align: left;">
<b>IRISH SERB's MINIATURES - <a href="https://sites.google.com/site/irishserbsminiatures/">https://sites.google.com/site/irishserbsminiatures/</a></b></h4>
<div>
<br /></div>
Well I've ordered some stuff from IRISHSERB and hope to get that up on the blog as soon as it arrives.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://sites.google.com/site/irishserbsminiatures/_/rsrc/1319075202651/home/aav7-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="257" src="https://sites.google.com/site/irishserbsminiatures/_/rsrc/1319075202651/home/aav7-1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
As well as some HMMWV's as I want to use the M113 spares from the BF Boxed set to magnetise and make alot of variants of the HMMWV's.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://sites.google.com/site/irishserbsminiatures/_/rsrc/1283096234232/home/hum50hatch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="258" src="https://sites.google.com/site/irishserbsminiatures/_/rsrc/1283096234232/home/hum50hatch.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<a href="http://www.blogger.com/"></a><span id="goog_2120340427"></span><span id="goog_2120340428"></span><br />
Brian is also working on some excellent stuff in the back ground.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-P3ijh9PQkxw/UmcZvqKGAUI/AAAAAAAABUk/m2gVLrzRw-M/s400/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="488" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-P3ijh9PQkxw/UmcZvqKGAUI/AAAAAAAABUk/m2gVLrzRw-M/s640/1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Oh he's doing an M60A2 Starship!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TGUE467Z_os/UlyOsQ-M91I/AAAAAAAABTM/oHzzcOUAzDY/s400/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="324" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TGUE467Z_os/UlyOsQ-M91I/AAAAAAAABTM/oHzzcOUAzDY/s640/1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
This is an amazing model and I hope he continues to produce some of the estoric and rare vehicles of the Cold war period!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<h4 style="text-align: left;">
<b>KHURASAN MINIATURES - <a href="http://khurasanminiatures.tripod.com/">http://khurasanminiatures.tripod.com/</a></b></h4>
<br />
I've also been talking to Khurasan Miniatures about their YOM KIPPUR releases. But their more modern releases are also very appealing, although not one for rivet counters, this could proxy for an M1 or M1A1 and I certainly wouldn't moan. It's a beautiful model.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WUVz1kDkx18/UnZDgmTP21I/AAAAAAAABuc/c8myseW2lfU/s1600/KHUR+M1+Abrams.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="295" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WUVz1kDkx18/UnZDgmTP21I/AAAAAAAABuc/c8myseW2lfU/s400/KHUR+M1+Abrams.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1 of these in Resin for $12.99 - Yet to be confirmed but Khurasan does do T-62's at $12.99 in a Company pack of 10 for $119.99 e.g £75. I think if he did the same for these Abrams at 10 for $119.99 e.g £75 it would be a great Deal to any one wanting to collect a US Armour Force. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is the Master Centurion model he's using for Yom Kippur Centurions, also useful to anyone collecting Danish or Swedish forces in 1986, as these could be converted and added to easily. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br /></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I've also been e-mailing QRF and talking about their miniatures, which I have to point out have just dropped alot of the prices of their post War Tanks by 50p, down to £5.50. Combine with the discount code, or a multipack buy these are great if you want to pick some more Tanks or Vehicles! Here is a summary from their Website.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i>Price Changes </i></b></div>
<i>The basic infantry pack price has increased to £2.70 for 8 foot or 4 cavalry figures. I'm sure you will agree this is still very good value for money, at under 34p (approx USD 55c) per figure. All price codes A-H have increased in proportion, so the elephants wagons, carts and chariots have gone up too :-) <br />All postwar tanks have been LOWERED in price! <br />All postwar personnel carriers have been LOWERED in price! <br />All modern tanks have been LOWERED in price! <br />All modern personnel carriers/MICVs have been LOWERED in price! <br />To be able to afford this, all other postwar and modern vehicles have had their prices increased slightly, but hopefully this will enable you to get a larger army on the table faster and more cost effectively than ever before, especially if you order in bulk and take advantage of the built in platoon pack discounts! <br />There are no changes to WW1 or WW2 vehicle ranges </i><br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
So I've been meaning to put this on the blog for a while, but between work, my house and a Working Holiday, I'm a little behind.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.combatwombatminiatures.com/smallbarrels.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="http://www.combatwombatminiatures.com/smallbarrels.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
I'm not too sure how to play this at the moment, but I have bought about £50's worth of different Barrels from both :-<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.combatwombatminiatures.com/new_page_1.htm">Combat Wombat miniatures</a> (Best for US & CAN)<br />
<br />
And their direct Barrel Suppliers<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.rbmodel.com/index.php?action=products&cat=news">RB Model</a> (Best for EU)<br />
<br />
Now I can help you guys out with supplying bits and bobs, for example if you are unsure which barrel is what size etc. if you contact me I'll send you size samples / Pictures by e-mail next to known models to give you a better feel. If you want larger amounts I think contacting these guys directly is preferable.<br />
<br />
I would consider getting them in and supplying you guys with core ranges for various Weapon Systems or Vehicles?<br />
<br />
I am open to suggestions as to how we could do this, I could buy alot of the most common ones used as a kind of "Reduced but specific offering".<br />

<br />
These are great proxies for a 20mm cannon for just about any NATO / WARPAC / Independent Vehicle.<br />

<br />
As you can see I used this particular Barrel in the Bradley Conversion. It makes a lose approximation of a 20mm or 25mm Cannon, and at this scale is very effective.<br />
<br />
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
30mm - 40mm Scale Cannons</h3>
<br />
It is 1/72 but should scale up nicely to 30mm when you use this on a 1/100 vehicle...e.g 25% bigger so would be approx 31mm scale bore - but at this scale it should look good on anything with 30mm, like a BMP-2, Scimitar or Warrior etc etc.<br />
<br />
<br />

<h3>
40mm - 50mm Scale Cannons</h3>
<br />
It is 1/72 but should scale up okay to approx 40-50mm when you use this on a 1/100 vehicle.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.rbmodel.com/data/foto/small/72B57.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://www.rbmodel.com/data/foto/small/72B57.jpg" /></a><br />

<h3>
50mm+ Scale Cannons</h3>
<div>
<br /></div>
So for bigger models like BMP-1 73mm stubby Cannon - I would recommend the 1/72 - 45mm which is slightly underscale but shouldn't be noticable.<br />

<h3 style="text-align: left;">
FUTURE</h3>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I am hoping to discuss the possibility of doing 120mm and 125mm Tank barrels in 1/100 for Main Battle Tanks. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So I will send out some of these to those who have asked me on E-mail, and I will look at how we do this in future, as to whether I will get a stock of these and send them out or just direct people to buy these directly from the other two suppliers.</div>

So a whole year has passed since I started this project...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/2f/HartFA_USMC_1951_TBS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="303" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/2f/HartFA_USMC_1951_TBS.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I've been back through it all and it amazes me how i started in one direction just to have a campaign and share it , and before long I was building an entire modification of the FOW v3 Ruleset.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRHsP1hovqtTVRuiTDCLwqMi8acUs1Az1KvijrUIRY683yOobfy5Q" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRHsP1hovqtTVRuiTDCLwqMi8acUs1Az1KvijrUIRY683yOobfy5Q" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I've been all over the place until I settled on my current course of action and then everything went a bit mad and I seemed to be gaining a really good group of followers, all of which are supportive and interested in this period.<br />
<br />
So what have I still got that's gathering dust?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YJfKqZCddxw/UGdQItf-WHI/AAAAAAAAAEk/61JwdDLwK2M/s1600/Viet-Taff+COLD+WAR.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YJfKqZCddxw/UGdQItf-WHI/AAAAAAAAAEk/61JwdDLwK2M/s640/Viet-Taff+COLD+WAR.jpg" width="448" /></a></div>
<br />
The campaign Map and Campaign Unit Tokens so you can fight out each battle of each Brigade/ Division / Corps as the WARPAC aims to take all of West Germany. I'm going to put these up for anyone to grab and use as they want the map is A1 so if you send it to a specialist printer it looks great. I was hoping to do a Firestorm Campaign type thing. This will be done when I get back a short break.<br />
<br />
The future....<br />
<br />
Refining the rules, and building the newer style books.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1Sd_tTO8mbI/UgPM364ZpoI/AAAAAAAABcI/jqf8GQxSbRI/s1600/Overview.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="275" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1Sd_tTO8mbI/UgPM364ZpoI/AAAAAAAABcI/jqf8GQxSbRI/s640/Overview.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
Liaising and supporting Cold War 15mm producers, including grabbing the more unusual models.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tA9Tp8u_D7M/Uj3wAvWOFwI/AAAAAAAABpU/ttY0CRdIJ4U/s1600/DSC04273.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tA9Tp8u_D7M/Uj3wAvWOFwI/AAAAAAAABpU/ttY0CRdIJ4U/s400/DSC04273.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Helping to identify gaps in the market, and ways we can fill them with Proxies.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">1/100 25mm Bradley Barrel.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Barrels, I've got quite a few. I want to help you guys out there with these excellent Brass items which help to make your models last. So when you invest in QRF Marders or whatever spend a few more quid and gets some Barrels or send me your orders and I'll see what I can do.<br />
<br />
Above all thanks for reading, questioning, commenting, e-mailing, suggesting, tweaking and encouraging me this last year, I'm looking forward to the next year with a real focus and determination to deliver a great project to the FOW community. Mike<br />

When I'm a bit fed up of it, I take stock, have a look at what these guys are doing and a couple of the other sites out there and I feel re-energised to carry on.<br />

<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wBXBffhNYEk/UjRh38WtsZI/AAAAAAAABoE/Zdm1GZgtrqI/s1600/20130914_103419%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wBXBffhNYEk/UjRh38WtsZI/AAAAAAAABoE/Zdm1GZgtrqI/s400/20130914_103419%5B1%5D.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
So I finally got the Bradley from Zvezda via PSC. I've already seen this on other blogs and some of early observations concerned me that the vehicle was a much later variant and not great for the 1986 / Mid 1980's.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://miniatures.ru/images/news/2013/august/bradley/08.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="393" src="http://miniatures.ru/images/news/2013/august/bradley/08.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
Well I had a plan in mind of what I could do to make it suit my purposes....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-T6XzQDUh0KE/UjRg3A-A4RI/AAAAAAAABns/ocllmaq0HkQ/s1600/20130914_103509.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-T6XzQDUh0KE/UjRg3A-A4RI/AAAAAAAABns/ocllmaq0HkQ/s640/20130914_103509.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Frankly I love this model, it's easy to convert, easy to change, adaptable. Okay it's a bit more expensive, but for me I'll pay the extra because I can convert it much more easily.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r_13Zkj4Bz8/UjRg7MOJEGI/AAAAAAAABn0/vOEGTmZOOdA/s1600/20130914_134552.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r_13Zkj4Bz8/UjRg7MOJEGI/AAAAAAAABn0/vOEGTmZOOdA/s640/20130914_134552.jpg" style="cursor: move;" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Key things I did to change it :-<br />
<br />
1. Cut off the rear Turret rear cage and stowage to make the turret cleaner. Filed it a fair bit and removed some bits I didn't like.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR3O-pVy1lX_f8YiF4GmgUEz6GkY4c3fFkEFoHpFs5T3knbHLcN" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="192" src="https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR3O-pVy1lX_f8YiF4GmgUEz6GkY4c3fFkEFoHpFs5T3knbHLcN" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
2. Cut the side armour skirts in half, reduced and cut the front end. Then built a thin strip of plastic-card ready to build Green Stuff over it.<br />
3. Rebuilt the TOW Launcher to be "Up, ready to fire".<br />
4. Cut off the Barrel and then drilled it out and put a Brass Barrel in.<br />
5. Cleaned up the rest of the model, and then added some stowages and packages.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SJldbzt934g/UjRg7ceFmBI/AAAAAAAABn4/vzGv-337-ds/s1600/20130914_134557.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SJldbzt934g/UjRg7ceFmBI/AAAAAAAABn4/vzGv-337-ds/s640/20130914_134557.jpg" style="cursor: move;" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
On top of this, you might notice that I've swapped out the Barrel for a turned Brass one. I've got another big post on this for later next week as the Barrels are often weak or easily broken on 15mm Models so I've decided to invest in them and I'm going to make them available to anyone who wants them as cheap as possible as I am ordering them in large numbers. They look great and mean your models will be playable for longer.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ouAKYbmQQNE/UjRlNIcDDJI/AAAAAAAABoQ/Tqy52qiLPyk/s1600/20130914_142728%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ouAKYbmQQNE/UjRlNIcDDJI/AAAAAAAABoQ/Tqy52qiLPyk/s640/20130914_142728%5B1%5D.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Some extra's and additional storage.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eIrjmGnPe6U/UjTVcNh6xsI/AAAAAAAABog/v03ODa4v8Jc/s1600/20130914_222620.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eIrjmGnPe6U/UjTVcNh6xsI/AAAAAAAABog/v03ODa4v8Jc/s640/20130914_222620.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
EDIT - Post a discussion in the Comments below with Arrigo "the Crazy" about Bradley's and the various mk's I realised I made a mistake in removing the turret bustle....No big deal, but it irked me so I approximated the following :-<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-R6vAv1cXDwE/UjjXg6eyQQI/AAAAAAAABo4/mtwoSixQErE/s1600/20130917_232413%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-R6vAv1cXDwE/UjjXg6eyQQI/AAAAAAAABo4/mtwoSixQErE/s640/20130917_232413%5B1%5D.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6mn3T5CrtVs/UjjXrICrG_I/AAAAAAAABpA/GGNgPWxWil4/s1600/20130917_232359%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6mn3T5CrtVs/UjjXrICrG_I/AAAAAAAABpA/GGNgPWxWil4/s640/20130917_232359%5B1%5D.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
It's not perfect, but in future I won't remove the bustle...*whoops - over zealous knife wielding*.<br />
<br />
Many thanks to Arrigo for helping out and pointing out something I'd missed. I love this community, adults being adults on the Internet it's such a refreshing change from the rest of the internet.<br />

So here is another force from one of my fellow Club Members, play tester, fellow FOW nut and all round stand-up guy who has been a dedicated supporter of this project since the off...<br />

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-W-aLTRjiPM0/Uio5bZlnCHI/AAAAAAAABmY/-UhN97jbTN0/s1600/20130906_191530.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-W-aLTRjiPM0/Uio5bZlnCHI/AAAAAAAABmY/-UhN97jbTN0/s640/20130906_191530.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
So he decided to adopt the Cavalry because he wanted the Bradley's in numbers but he also wanted the freedom to use other US Forces. He did however use Decals of CAV but we don't let that worry us because we aren't "Rivet Counters" to use that wonderful turn of phrase.<br />
<br />

<br />
Oh and you always need some Punch, so the M1 Platoon was added for further support.<br />
<br />
I think with his units, and some of my own US Stuff we could do 4000pts of US. With Brits I reckon 6000pts and with COLONEL FISCHER's Bunderswehr Panzer Grenadiers, I think 10000pts of NATO.<br />
<br />
I've got 4000pts of WARPAC, and with the other WARPAC Players I think we could have a Huge Dust up! A big battle report is coming!<br />

Dan is working hard, as well as working his Day Job to get the Art work done and we've revised some points costings sensibly to reflect some extra Options (like Half Tank Platoons!). Also don't forget to enter the Caption Competition it's free and you've a decent chance of winning (if you are witty! ). </div>

So I picked up some M109's last week because I really like the look of them and they are pretty at actually pretty good value (£19) which considering you get Decals and Magnets to mount both kinds of Gun isn't bad..<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i.ebayimg.com/t/FLAMES-OF-WAR-Vietnam-M109-155mm-Battlefront-Miniatures-VUSBX08-/00/s/NTAwWDM1NA==/z/fjIAAMXQDK1RtJV8/$(KGrHqFHJBUFBS,7ibH(BRtJV7zd9w~~60_35.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://i.ebayimg.com/t/FLAMES-OF-WAR-Vietnam-M109-155mm-Battlefront-Miniatures-VUSBX08-/00/s/NTAwWDM1NA==/z/fjIAAMXQDK1RtJV8/$(KGrHqFHJBUFBS,7ibH(BRtJV7zd9w~~60_35.JPG" width="282" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I wasn't interested in the M108, or mounting the 0.50cal's so I suppose I gained some extras and more vehicle crew, so all good additions to my Bits box.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flamesofwar.com/Portals/0/all_images/Vietnam/American/VUSBX08a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://www.flamesofwar.com/Portals/0/all_images/Vietnam/American/VUSBX08a.jpg" width="225" /></a><a href="http://www.flamesofwar.com/Portals/0/all_images/Vietnam/American/VUSBX08b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="232" src="http://www.flamesofwar.com/Portals/0/all_images/Vietnam/American/VUSBX08b.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The M109 went through alot of Upgrades in it's venerable and ongoing Career. But the variant that is used in the Cold War period of the Mid-80's was the M109A3, which was pretty much ubititious and used by all NATO Forces giving some great Logistics savings and streamlining!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7057/6936947669_b0021a198a_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="285" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7057/6936947669_b0021a198a_z.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This has a different much more capable Barrel then the original M109. So a bit of work was required to bring this upto Spec.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kYLHnjdQoVQ/UhKFf1cuBDI/AAAAAAAABig/HHcjEiae2JI/s1600/DSC08261.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kYLHnjdQoVQ/UhKFf1cuBDI/AAAAAAAABig/HHcjEiae2JI/s400/DSC08261.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
First off, I cut up the existing Barrel removing the Muzzle Brake and the huge disk on the Barrel leaving a Stub, I then carefully with a Pin vice drilled a central pilot hole and then gradually widened it with a succession of slightly larger drill bits. All I can say here is, patience and confidence, I find if you are timid with it you will make mistake, be confident and deliberate (just like handling a firearm). I drilled approx 7mm in to make sure there was a deep and secure hole for the Brass Rod.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KdOvI3vn4_w/UhKFrpV1thI/AAAAAAAABiw/yIlkJt3C-W0/s1600/DSC08265.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KdOvI3vn4_w/UhKFrpV1thI/AAAAAAAABiw/yIlkJt3C-W0/s400/DSC08265.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: left;">So I then glued this in place on the Mantlet / Turret Ring and then drilled out the Muzzle Break, a small piece of plastic rod I had in my bits box. Then I glued in the piece of Brass Rod, with the Barrel sleeve and Muzzle break on. I then smoothed it out by encasing the whole rod in a thin layer of Green Stuff / Epoxy (you can see this on the top of the vehicles and also filled in the area around the Mantlet). </span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oZaIAzkMy_Y/UhKFnfb3mXI/AAAAAAAABio/y83rUij7_2E/s1600/DSC08263.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oZaIAzkMy_Y/UhKFnfb3mXI/AAAAAAAABio/y83rUij7_2E/s400/DSC08263.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I continued this throughout and forgot to take many pictures, but the key to a good finish is to gentle file the Epoxy on the New barrel lovely and smooth and even.Giving this...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WjQdq4LmJJA/UhKH4oFSiII/AAAAAAAABi8/j8kxbW1J12c/s1600/DSC08285.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WjQdq4LmJJA/UhKH4oFSiII/AAAAAAAABi8/j8kxbW1J12c/s400/DSC08285.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Which I think is a reasonable approximation of what I want, okay it's not amazing but it's fairly decent.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-T5WQOigHCJ8/UhEOD5Xi4II/AAAAAAAABeA/Hx68JiuFsmQ/s1600/DSC08244.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-T5WQOigHCJ8/UhEOD5Xi4II/AAAAAAAABeA/Hx68JiuFsmQ/s640/DSC08244.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
So these three items were sent to me last week, but due to work, life, a funeral and everything else getting in the way I've been neglecting you all of late.<br />
<br />
So you've probably heard these models weren't really what we expecting or really what we wanted.<br />
<br />
So the Good.....(The Dark Green ones are QRF for comparative purposes).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xNQBfCB7o8Q/UhEPSzAjZOI/AAAAAAAABeo/OSORlJj1Cv8/s1600/DSC08249.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xNQBfCB7o8Q/UhEPSzAjZOI/AAAAAAAABeo/OSORlJj1Cv8/s640/DSC08249.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: left;">Well actually the T-72 and BTR are actually fairly decent models, there is a reasonable amount of detail, although it doesn't have the AA MG or even the ERA blocks as per the box cover.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rca3fYA9hfY/UhEPTWp-VjI/AAAAAAAABes/y2gJ2sEFOO4/s1600/DSC08250.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rca3fYA9hfY/UhEPTWp-VjI/AAAAAAAABes/y2gJ2sEFOO4/s640/DSC08250.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I've done some measuring and the Zvezda stuff is pretty much 1/100 (the height is usually 1-2mm too high or too low).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8PKu7WkFKq0/UhEPjVtZV_I/AAAAAAAABfA/m0S3KuW8KYU/s1600/DSC08253.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8PKu7WkFKq0/UhEPjVtZV_I/AAAAAAAABfA/m0S3KuW8KYU/s640/DSC08253.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The QRF BTR is a very different beast, I know this is a BTR 70 compared with a BTR 70, but even so they aren't this different in real life!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kN-SBw8OwhY/UhEPiJBj0kI/AAAAAAAABe4/lIABn9LwGgg/s1600/DSC08254.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kN-SBw8OwhY/UhEPiJBj0kI/AAAAAAAABe4/lIABn9LwGgg/s640/DSC08254.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: left;">The Bad, the oh so very Bad.....</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
ZVEZDA M1A1 Abrams.....Well it looks like they never finished it, or they sent the wrong file or Prototype to the Production line.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The detail in some sections is decent - Like the top of the Engine, if this had been carried throughout the model I would have been pretty happy.<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
OVERALL<br />
<br />
I actually really like the Soviet Stuff, it's chunky, reasonably detailed, sturdy and with a degree of weight and heft I wasn't expecting.<br />
<br />
The Abrams is....well....it's just bad.....and I would avoid it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
The key bad point is the Price, £6.50 or $10.10 these models are priced well beyond their relatively value. You would be especially furious if you bought the Abrams. If the price was about £4.50 / $7 - I could live with the Soviet stuff and it actually would be worth grabbing them. Especially if you were doing an BTR Motorised Force, or a T-72 Armoured Force. Maybe someone will start selling these in bundles on E-bay for a discount - If so with 15%- 20% off they would be a good buy, as it stands I cannot invest in these. There is much better stuff out there cheaper!<br />
<br />
I'm waiting on the BRADLEY......Not holding out much hope.<br />
<br />
I also picked up a Box of Battlefronts M109, I'll do a review on this boxed set in the next few days!<br />
<br />

I recently got an update of some Force Expansion for Colonel Kelly's CMBG.<br />

(Looks like a great Sunny Day in Canada - Cannot imagine anywhere more pleasant on a fair weather day!)<br />
<br />
Once again we see the generous extra weapons on the BF M113's being put to excellent use.<br />
<br />
He is working on his Infantry currently. His gaming group is well worth a look, and has lots of fantastic FOW orientated content.<br />

<a href="http://www.dicedevils.com/2013/08/bought-myself-two-boxes-of-battlefront.html">http://www.dicedevils.com/2013/08/bought-myself-two-boxes-of-battlefront.html</a><br />
<br />
<h4 style="text-align: left;">
<b>GENEROSITY</b></h4>
I've been quite surprised at the amount of e-mails and donations made, it's very humbling, and it will all be sent to Dan to help him with the Artwork side.<br />
<br />
I'll be keeping the details of those who have donated and I think I will do something significant as a genuine Thank You from me, and also as bit of a Community based back and forth.</div>
Mwnciboohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04215738155942139824noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6143466424471910205.post-55551046964702810212013-08-08T18:11:00.003+01:002013-08-27T21:31:45.620+01:00Some Big Presentation Changes!<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
<br />
So me and AMROTH (Daniel McCoy) have been discussing things off-line and he's done a kind of Pilot of a Force List just like his excellent Israeli 6 Day war stuff.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1Sd_tTO8mbI/UgPM364ZpoI/AAAAAAAABcE/zi93pAjEvOM/s1600/Overview.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="275" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1Sd_tTO8mbI/UgPM364ZpoI/AAAAAAAABcE/zi93pAjEvOM/s640/Overview.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
As you can see, Dan has taken what I have done and built on it considerably.<br />
<br />
This is experimental, it's a pilot, unofficial and it's available here for a look, so you can critique and make suggestions.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B3E-DVIcsccBTU9fSW8tb2E2UkE/edit?usp=sharing">CLICK HERE TO HAVE A LOOK</a><br />
<br />
So why aren't we doing this to everything right now, right this minute!!<br />
<br />
<h4 style="text-align: left;">
COST</h4>
<br />
In doing much of this, Dan is incurring cost as we don't want to use Copyrighted pictures and leave ourselves exposed legally so he is doing new, original art work.<br />
<br />
I give my time for free, through choice as this is something I believe in and want to do. Dan is a busy man, and as a Graphic Artist time is money, even if it isn't normal full cost even a minimal amount is a bit of recompense for the investment in time he gives to the benefit of the community, Something I have asked him to do and don't mind paying for myself.<br />
<br />
<h4 style="text-align: left;">
SO HOW CAN YOU HELP</h4>
<br />
I will not charge money for this, it's immoral and legally wrong as this is based on Battlefronts Flames of War Rules and their Intellectual Property, this is a homebrew rules set for the community. I will not profit from this project and don't want to, other than the feel good factor of delivering something of high quality to the community.<br />
<br />
So if you want to help you can...<br />
<br />
1. You could also make a donation if you see fit, my details on PAYPAL are the same. (mwnciboo@gmail.com).<br />
<br />
2. Spread this site around the web and get some more elements out there. There are some area's of the internet and communities I am unknown in, especially things like 15mm Sci-Fi and I think the content I provide is useful to those who may want to buy modern vehicles.<br />
<br />
Overtime, we will bring the Force Books and Rule Book (Hopefully) upto the standard piloted above.<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
I've had some little pointers from a friend, about using Nylon Bristles from a Normal domestic Paint Brush and using them to make "Whip Aerials". They look pretty effective.<br />
<br />
This M577 is from the expanded Battlefront Vietnam Range. I've done it in the same camo as my earlier M113's.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-f6OghEjLkwM/Uf1qNbuobtI/AAAAAAAABas/CdSlD94rCg4/s1600/DSC08239.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-f6OghEjLkwM/Uf1qNbuobtI/AAAAAAAABas/CdSlD94rCg4/s640/DSC08239.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I really like these models and the 4 for £19 is pretty good value. I will buy another box of these, so I will have a pair as 4.2" Mortar Carriers and an extra one to make the Command M113, this will leave me one spare but I will no doubt use that another NATO list, or making another US Platoon in future.<br />
<br />
I'm trying to find out what markings these things had back in 1986 - Specifically the Cavalry. I think I have seen Charcoal coloured Stars rather than the older style White Stars. If anyone can help or has a decent reference or URL available if you could share it in the comments section.<br />
<br />
Additions to my US forces in the next 6 months<br />
<br />
1. 3 x AAV's<br />
2. 2 x LAV<br />
3. 4 x Abrams M1 or M1A1<br />
4. 6 x BRADLEY<br />
5. 3 x M109<br />
6. 2 x M106<br />
7. 2 x VULCAN ADS<br />
<br />
I will look at the ZVEZDA Stuff when it arrives (God knows when?) and will decide at that point whether I will use that stuff or buy others...<br />
<br />
Kharasan has an interesting M1A2..I might buy those because despite being the wrong mark, they look AMAZING.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
BRITISH RE-VAMP<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3olGRpJujho/Uf1qZdzrrsI/AAAAAAAABa8/4TIe88aUA28/s1600/DSC08243.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3olGRpJujho/Uf1qZdzrrsI/AAAAAAAABa8/4TIe88aUA28/s640/DSC08243.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I've also started re-doing and neating up my Brits, adding the aerials and re-varnishing them (the original Varnish didn't work so I've gone back to Polyurethane Varnish rather than Model Varnish, and then I spray it with DULLCOTE once the Varnish has cured approx 48hrs).<br />
<br />
I will be adding to this shortly with the following:-<br />
<br />
1. 2 x FV Spartans<br />
2. 3 x FV432 ( 1 Extra FV432 for HQ and 2 x FV432 Mortars )<br />
3. 3 x FV Abbots<br />
4. 2 x Tracked Rapiers<br />
5. 3 x Scimitars<br />
<br />
This will give me a nice rounded out, force</div>

<h4 style="text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">COLD WAR READING</span></b></h4>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">As many of you know the UK Command & Staff Course in Shrivenham is really the hub of Higher Level Professional Military Education in the UK military and many other countries who attend. Reading professional Military material especially Senior Commanders Memoirs is without doubt one of the most enlightening and valuable things a Junior Officer can do. No military situation is truly unique, it has all been done before and learning the same lessons the hard way over and again is a waste of Blood and Sweat and will save a river of tears. So study hard and learn all that you can! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">One of the books that had a Profound effect on me about 13 years ago is the following. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HSkjATwp07Y/UfAMVyB6HdI/AAAAAAAABYU/zJA2ubXzhQA/s1600/DSC08196.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HSkjATwp07Y/UfAMVyB6HdI/AAAAAAAABYU/zJA2ubXzhQA/s640/DSC08196.JPG" width="480" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">(it is NON-FICTION despite TOM CLANCY being plastered all over it and it is about Frederick M Franks)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Principally this man...</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e9/Frederick_m_franks.jpg/220px-Frederick_m_franks.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e9/Frederick_m_franks.jpg/220px-Frederick_m_franks.jpg" width="256" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederick_M._Franks,_Jr.">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederick_M._Franks,_Jr.</a><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Probably the most underrated and most overlooked US Commander of all time, to me he is as good as Slim (I'm not kidding! This man, is just like Slim, he took massive personal defeats and tragedies and is so tough he never took it lying down or kowtowed to life). This book is his book, not Tom Clancy's despite what the cover says. (Clancy writes a fore-word, gets a huge title and a few bits but ignore that guff, the really good stuff is what Frederick Franks writes with both eloquence and a dose of humility - a rare trait ).</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://h-co.freehomepage.com/04c7ca20.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="419" src="http://h-co.freehomepage.com/04c7ca20.jpg" width="640" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Okay in essence....</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">1, Gets wounded in Vietnam in 11th ACR (yup the Blackhorse no less!) as a Major (Squadron Commander!), losses a foot and has a prosthetic. Loses 4 children at Birth or just after birth.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">2, Convalesces, somehow through determination manages to stay in the Army.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">3, Feels the betrayal over Vietnam and how his Forces through no fault of their own, have had to suffer society turning its back on them.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">4, Ends up in the US Army at the lowest Ebb in its history (Drugs, Racism, poor fitness, ill discipline and it's great enemy the Red Army in the ascendancy).</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">5, Begins to turn it around, helps to build a Professional Army now the Draft Law is over. Focusing on training, professional development, getting great clay in through the recruitment pipeline that he could mould into superb Professional Soldiers.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">6, Works on the Big 5 Project (Abrams, Bradley, Apache, Blackhawk, Patriot).</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">7, Helps change the US Army Doctorine post Yom Kippir ("How to fight Outnumbered and Win") and builds the idea of feeding off the chaos, taking the initiative, attacking in depth and disrupting the enemy through breakthroughs and general Rear Echelon based mayhem.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.usarmygermany.com/units/armoredcav/1st%20Sq%2011th%20ACR%201980s%20c%20600.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="http://www.usarmygermany.com/units/armoredcav/1st%20Sq%2011th%20ACR%201980s%20c%20600.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">7, Rises to Command 11th ACR, He is Cavalry to the Core.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">8, Rises to Divisional Command,</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">9, Cold War ends, But in his career he has built the US Army into the Best Army on the face of the Earth.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">9, Rises to Command VII Corp 1991 Desert Storm. His 5 Divisions vs 14 Iraqi - Kicks the crap out of them, even against mediocre troops you shouldn't be able to defeat 3 times your number that quickly!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">10, Annihilates the Iraqi units in his way by maneouvre proving the Doctorine, Training, Morale and above all his instinct or Fingerspitzengefühl for the art of Command</span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://dmn.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/Bradley.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="508" src="http://dmn.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/Bradley.jpg" width="640" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">It then goes on to describe the organisation of a Division and a Corps, and how the Cavalry are different and would form a Screen or even the tip of the spear depending on the Situation. </span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">He then goes into a meticulous, detailed and chronological blow by blow account of Desert Storm... It's 522 pages and the print is small - So there is a huge amount of detail, I would say more than any other book of it's genre.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Well, anyway his detail in the book is amazing to any Cold War Wargamer, the tactics, methodolgies, anecdotes, the mentality but also the view of the Soviet Enemy to locally take Advantage and fight "Close and Deep" at the same time to defeat Soviet "Echelon Tactics". He is a manoeuvarist Commanders dream, a real Rommel type without the ego or the self aggrandizing and the self realisation not to overstretch. A true Scholar and Soldier, what I would call a Hector character - Professional to the end. He is Competent, Humble, determined, tough, Professional and a believer in training and study. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRTtom6Os8NGxHdsr9LHmNKlzDCZz3_uCDRNt5bsfF1yoVBK0e-" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRTtom6Os8NGxHdsr9LHmNKlzDCZz3_uCDRNt5bsfF1yoVBK0e-" width="276" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">In ever way he is the successor to Field Marshall Slim, and is not really comparable with Slim because Slim fought much more than 4 days. I have no doubt that Franks would have been a Key Commander a real thorn in the side of the Soviets if the worst had come to the worst in 1986 as per the timeline I work too. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This Book is in my top 5 books on conflict, and Franks is my top ten Commanders of modern time (20th Century onwards). </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">1. </span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">VON MANSTEIN</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">2. </span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">SLIM</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">3. </span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">ZHUKOV / </span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">VATUTIN</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">4. ROMMEL</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">5. </span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">CARL GUSTAF MANNERHEIM</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">6. </span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">ARIEL SHARON</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">7. FERDINAND FOCH</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">8. VO NGUYEN GIAP</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">9. O'CONNOR</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">10. </span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">FRANKS / RIDGWAY</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Honourable mention - Ahmad Shah Massoud....Too many to count but I have my reasons for all of the above.</span></div>

Another Awesome Adaptation of FOW</h3>
<br />
So on my journeys around the net, i've happened across some amazing stuff this one is no different.<br />
<br />
Natholeon of the "Natholeons Empire" Blog (<a href="http://natholeonsempires.blogspot.co.uk/">http://natholeonsempires.blogspot.co.uk/</a> another very good blog!) and he's been working on his 15mm Armoured Forces here.<br />

<br />
<br />
There was a bit of a discussion in the previous post about possible Six-day War lists. Forgive my ignorance, but I had no idea that AMROTH had produced something quite frankly astonishing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-a-m8eob_-kk/UXmMQ3-ijyI/AAAAAAAABe8/DiD39f7bn6A/s1600/Spreads2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="350" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-a-m8eob_-kk/UXmMQ3-ijyI/AAAAAAAABe8/DiD39f7bn6A/s640/Spreads2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>

<br />
<br />
This has raised the Bar, his level of detail and the quality of the Books is impressive.<br />

<br />
You can download them for FREE!!!! from his Blog link here.<br />

<br />
<br />
I would love to draw together lots of resources like this in my Blog - Not to take credit for them, which I would never do, but to highlight the incredible levels of effort members of the community have taken upon their own shoulders for the benefit of others often with little or no money, just research, effort and dedication.<br />
<br />
This stuff is Inspirational...I hope you guys are inspired too and give AMROTH some appreciation, although giving him messages on his blog seems to be difficult ? <br />
<br />
Guys on your wonderings around the Internet please send me or add a comment highlighting this stuff...<br />
<br />
I will build a set of links for all kinds of "Flames of War" based Cold War Rules.<br />
